Keep Moving Through the Holidays
If your Nia class is on a short break over the holiday season, don’t press pause on caring for your body.
Just a few minutes of movement at home can awaken your spine, warm up your body and support nervous system regulation. It may help ease the effects of long car trips, extra sitting and eating, busy schedules and the natural stress that can arise at this time of year.
To support you, we’re delighted to offer Nia at Home—a collection of short song-length videos you can enjoy wherever you are. These are perfect for a morning wake-up, an afternoon reset or a gentle wind-down.
You’ll be able to access the Nia at Home videos
You can also access Online Classes with Australia-based Nia teachers through our website as well!
How to Become a Nia Teacher
If you’ve ever left a Nia class feeling more alive, connected and curious, you may have wondered what it takes to become a Nia teacher. The pathway is clear, accessible and grounded in embodied learning.
Step 1: Begin with Nia Art of Sensation (White Belt)
The first step is Nia Art of Sensation (AOS) – a six-day immersive training introducing Nia’s philosophy, movement language, music, anatomy and the art of sensing the body from the inside out.
AOS is first and foremost a somatic personal growth experience, deepening your relationship with your body, movement and wellbeing. For some graduates, teaching emerges as a natural next step.
Step 2: Become a Licensed Nia Teacher
After completing AOS, you may choose to become a licensed Nia teacher through Nia Now. Teacher membership provides your teaching licence, access to music and resources, and ongoing professional support.
Step 3: Grow Your Skills
New teachers are encouraged to complete SHARE, a free online course created by Nia founder Debbie Rosas, supporting confident and safe class facilitation.
Nia Green Belt – Art of Teaching is an optional training offering tools, practices, coaching and support for teaching Nia with ease and relaxation. It can be taken at any stage of your teaching journey.
Step 4: Teach, Share and Belong
Once licensed, you can teach Nia in community spaces, studios or online, and join the Nia Australia as a Teacher Member. You might begin with one class or expand into many, or integrate Nia’s somatic movement into existing offerings as a wellbeing coach or allied health, mental health or wellness professional – alongside workshops, retreats and events.
At its heart, becoming a Nia teacher isn’t about performance or perfection. It’s about listening to the body, honouring sensation, and sharing movement as a pathway to vitality, joy and healthy ageing.
