Anne is based in Melbourne and has been dancing Nia since 2011. She has completed the Nia White Belt.
Her first experience of Nia was one of pure joy! It was as if she were little again, transported back to her favourite school teacher’s classroom. In an era where school was rather beige and earnest, this teacher opened up endless possibilities for creativity. With her mini skirt swishing, her platform shoes clicking and her pony tail flying, she brought trailing in her wake enormous amounts of fun, adventure, liberation and possibility, as well as open hearted nurture and care. To Anne, this is Nia!
Nia also connects to a quieter, deeper level of experience and participants are often flowing with feeling and imagery during and after the sessions. Nia draws upon the healing arts which, along with certain music, stirs up energy that needs to shift and transform.
Anne has an abiding interest in the emotional and relational aspects of experience, and works professionally as a psychotherapist and social worker. She has a particular interest in how emotional experience and memory is stored in the body, and how it can be shifted to make it available for elaboration, transformation and healing. Dancing and now teaching Nia is a deeply expressive and creative opportunity for nurture And it’s fun!

For Nia feel free to wear any exercise or comfortable clothing that makes you feel good and free to move. Bring along a water bottle and a towel or yoga mat if you have one.
Nia is designed to be practised barefoot. If there are physical reasons not to practise barefoot, soft sole shoes can be worn.
