Nia for young people with physical & amp; intellectual disabilities

Milton Masonic Hall, Princes Hwy, Milton NSW, Australia

This is a Nia class for young people with physical and intellectual disabilities.

It is a tailor made Nia class to enhance a sense of belonging while increasing physical mobility, coordination, flexibility, strength, stability and focus.

As a Registered Psychologist, a Certified Black Belt Practitioner and a retired Speech Pathologist, Noel has adapted a classic Nia class for the needs of all ability students.

Students will develop social communication skills through following verbal and visual instruction while they express themselves physically, emotionally and vocally.

This class will build capacity to engage in other social and community events, to enjoy activities as a group and to generally feel better and build confidence.

Suitable for young people aged 13 yrs old upwards. Carers welcome.

For Nia feel free to wear exercise or comfortable clothing that makes you feel good and free to move.  Bring along a water bottle and a towel or yoga mat if you have one.

Nia is designed to be practised barefoot.  If there are physical reasons not practise barefoot, soft sole shoes can be worn.

Gentle Nia is a playful and relaxing movement experience infused with music that benefits body, mind and spirit.  It includes the fundamentals of a Classic Nia class at a slower pace for those wanting more of a work-in.  It provides more time and space for you to mindfully connect to life-force energy.
