Biography

Noël has completed the Nia White, Green, Blue, Brown and Black Belt trainings and the Nia 5 Stages training. Noël is based in the NSW South Coast.

“I discovered Nia in my 50’s and loved the instant rekindling of my ‘dormant dancer’. It was such fun and my health improved dramatically. As a health professional (Registered Psychologist and Speech Pathologist), I experience in myself and observe in others – Nia is an effective anti-depressant, de-stressor, confidence builder, mindfulness practice and sustainable joy giver!

My body shape has changed and sustained for the better. I enjoy the company of like-minded and yet unique spirits in Nia classes – both in my community and across the world; participating in Nia classes in Australia, Paris, Scotland, USA, New Zealand and on a yacht in Greece – a good way to meet people! My current focus is to encourage others to share this joyful movement practice with younger and older. I would love Nia to become embedded in our world for people to enjoy for centuries to come.”

Nia for young people with physical & amp; intellectual disabilities

Milton Masonic Hall, Princes Hwy, Milton NSW, Australia

This is a Nia class for young people with physical and intellectual disabilities.

It is a tailor made Nia class to enhance a sense of belonging while increasing physical mobility, coordination, flexibility, strength, stability and focus.

As a Registered Psychologist, a Certified Black Belt Practitioner and a retired Speech Pathologist, Noel has adapted a classic Nia class for the needs of all ability students.

Students will develop social communication skills through following verbal and visual instruction while they express themselves physically, emotionally and vocally.

This class will build capacity to engage in other social and community events, to enjoy activities as a group and to generally feel better and build confidence.

Suitable for young people aged 13 yrs old upwards. Carers welcome.

What should you wear? Wear clothes that make you feel comfortable.  Activewear is great.  Be prepared to come up and down to the floor.  Chairs are available if you need them.  You don’t need shoes but you can wear them if you need to.  Soft-soled shoes are best.  Bring a water bottle and towel.

Classic Nia a fun, whole body, cardio movement class that infuses the dynamics of martial arts, dance mindfulness.  Experience the healing and conditioning power of moving your body in ways that feel good to you.  Share the joy of movement to global music and leave sweaty and smiling.  Adaptable for all ages and fitness levels.

Gentle Nia a playful and relaxing movement experience set to music that benefits body, mind and spirit.  It includes the fundamentals of a Classic Nia class, but is slower paced for those wanting more for a work-in than a workout.  It provides more time and space for you to mindfully connect to life-force energy and move in your body’s way.
