Biography

Amy has completed the White Belt Training and Art of Teaching Training and is based in Canberra.

Amy has always been a “mover”.  Gymnastics was an early love, along with ballet and jazz ballet.  Her romance with Middle Eastern Belly Dance began almost 20 years ago.  In January 2013, through Fiona Glenn, Amy was introduced to Nia and it was love at first move.  

“Nia feels like home – I love the music, freedom and joy of being in my own body and moving in my own unique way.  Nia has helped me to genuinely fall in love with what my body is and can do”.

After completing the White Belt in February 2016, Amy is looking forward to growing with Nia as a teacher.

For Nia feel free to wear any exercise or comfortable clothing that makes you feel good and free to move. Bring along a water bottle and a towel or yoga mat if you have one. Nia is designed to be practised barefoot. If there are physical reasons not to practise barefoot, soft sole shoes can be worn.

Gentle Nia Class
Enjoy soft music and easy-to-follow choreography in a supportive atmosphere of safety and trust. Personalize movements to fit your body’s way, while focusing on pleasure, resulting in improved overall feelings of wellness, regardless of current physical/medical condition. 

5 Stages Class
Experience gentle, mindful, self-healing as you are guided through five simple moves that naturally realign your body for flexibility, strength, agility and ease. Based on the stages of human development – embryonic, creeping, crawling, standing and walking. Renew, energize and consciously condition your body, mind, emotions and spirit. Move better, feel better from the ground up. Each class delivers a somatic anatomy lesson to deepen your body knowledge
