On holidays amongst a dusty pile of books in an op shop, I found the first book of Nia by Debbie and Carlos. Browsing through the book I felt I had found what I had been searching for. Nia had recently commenced in Melbourne so I was able to experience a class and realised it would suit my style of fitness philosophy.
As a Pilates Instructor and Personal Trainer I was looking for a movement system to compliment my repertoire as a fitness and health professional.
Nia is fabulous!
As a Nia teacher I am trained to deliver a fun workout while teaching people to become more aware of their bodies. It is more than a fitness system it encourages you to explore your body’s movement. Nia aims to bring you flexibility agility, mobility, stability and strength, which with practice the body becomes a suppler and graceful, this is a wonderful thing!
In Nia we recognise that we all move to our own rhythm. “Do your best and do it your way”. If in a class you look around and you think, ‘Oh no, I don't look like her or the teacher’, then congratulations.
We all have our own "Body's Way" and we all move individually. This practice is for you to let go and embrace your body. There is no right or wrong way, just come to a class… And have fun!
