I have a real passion for creative self-expression, so the first time I attended a Nia class, my immediate reaction was "At last, the fitness class of my dreams!" I loved how the simple textures of the class were woven together: the incredible music, the fusion of dance, martial arts and healing, and the creative freedom to express myself through the unique physicality of my own body. I had so much fun, I forgot I was exercising.
As I seek balance and well-being in my everyday life, practicing Nia connects me to my body, mind and spirit and helps me move beyond the challenges of chronic scoliosis (curvature of the spine).
I’ve always enjoyed keeping fit but never thought of myself as the “athletic” type and certainly never saw myself in the same league as “fitness instructors”. But the expressive and healing aspects of Nia, as well as Nia’s excellent taste in music, sparked new possibilities for me. I quickly discovered that the Nia technique was a something that I had a flair to share! So becoming a certified Nia instructor became the natural choice.
My background is in music, drama, art, literature, nutrition and life coaching. I spent many years living in California, developing myself as a singer/songwriter and artist, learning to live a healthy, earth-friendly lifestyle, working with women’s circles, health professionals and conscious communities, and exploring movement through freeform-dance, hula-hooping and yoga.
I now offer Nia classes and creative enrichment programs to individuals, community groups and businesses within Australia.
