"Class Action" by Lucy Brook.

This article speaks of the body-mind forms of fitness, and shows Nia as a leader in the realm of body-mind fitness. It takes a historical look at exercise and how the philosophy and approach to fitness has changed since the 1970s.

"Nia…is founded on the concept that there is a dancer, martial artist, and highly aware person within you."

"Nia increases pleasure of living in your body, relieves stress, strengthens and tones muscles, encourages weight loss, alleviates emotional problems, heightens sexual function and improves endurance." - Lucy Brooks, Writer – The Courier Mail

Nia Australia Vogue article

At Melbourne's Knowbody Studios, Nia classes are becoming increasingly popular among those tired of the usual timetable fare. These classes blend Yoga, breathing techniques, martial arts, and tribal dance for an alternative that's as energetic as it is eclectic.

Doing the Salute to the Sun with Bono warbling from speaker stacks, swapping the trainers for designer heels or mixing Yoga with dance moves may seem a tad gimmicky, but let's not forget that many of today's popular fitness forms were once considered out there, such as Pilates, which blended moves from gymnastics, yoga, and martial arts in a pioneering stretch and tone routine.

Gimmicky or not, this fusion of fitness and fun clearly has the power of motivation on its side. "I think when it's something you enjoy doing, it also gives you the incentive to stick with it," says Rice.

Revive Magazine on Nia Dance Australia"The secret of fitness is the Joy of Movement" is what I was told is the fundamental principle of Nia technique. Having researched the technique prior to my session, I found myself not really knowing what to expect, and more than a litle concerned that I was going to be the most uncoordinated member of the class!
